End of Winter Break

The last weekend of winter break was a whirlwind!  I left my externship in Salinas, CA on Saturday and drove down to my parents' house to pick up Levi who they had been babysitting for me.  The next morning I packed up all of Levi's belongings and drove up Hwy 1 with my sister, her fiance, and my parents to look at wedding venues in Big Sur.  The views on the drive were incredible (as is their selected wedding site).

After lunch in Big Sur, Levi and I split off from the group and continued the drive north back to Davis.  Levi and I got to stop for a short time in Carmel on the way home though so Levi could romp on the beach.

Levi was right in the middle of fetching his toy from the waves when two scuba divers emerged from the water and startled him.  He didn't know what to think of the scary sea monsters so he barked at them to try to scare them off.  We worked a little bit trying to build his confidence around the scuba divers but I didn't think until after we had left that I should have given them a treat to give him.  Oh well, maybe I'll remember that for the next time we see scuba divers at the beach.

Overall it was a beautiful day and a great end to break.

  1. How gorgeous - views, beach and weather! Great and happy pix of Levi - the second to last photo is just beautiful! Yeah... I can see both Sam and Avalon barking at black-suited, scary-looking divers, for sure. Your ultimate solution is terrific! Maybe I'll have to try that with other folks who Sammie, primarily, barks at! Great thinking!

  2. Wow, did you have the beach all to yourselves in Carmel? Looks gorgeous. I had the same thing happen in Tahoe with divers and gear suddenly coming by and rising out of the water. It startled us as well!
